Removable Prosthetics

Removable prostheses refer to those dental devices designed to replace entire arches or parts of them, which can be easily removed by the patient throughout the day.

Types of removable prostheses:

  • Complete prosthesis: This is a medical device applied to completely edentulous patients, resting directly on the mucosa and the underlying bone.
  • Partial prosthesis or skeleton prosthesis: It is anchored to the remaining teeth via clasps or attachments. When a metal framework is used for support, it is referred to as a skeleton prosthesis or framework prosthesis.

To enhance the stability of a removable prosthesis, it is possible to place implants that serve as anchorage.
